Ever wanted to do something but you are afraid that you’ll fail?, Or you just fear the unknown?. Well that’s not the case with Faith Dickey – a world record holding stunts-woman.
Faith Dickey popularly known as That Slackline Girl says
Highlining took everything I thought I knew about fear and threw it into the sky. To stand on one inch webbing stretched across a void, with all exposure penetrating your vision and unhinging your brain, every iota of your being is telling you not to be there. This is fear and each step across that line pushes it slowly away.
Highlining at first, was just her hometown summer activity which turned out to be a life-changing, mind-altering addiction
Three years ago, she pulled one of the most dangerous adrenaline-inducing stunts.
As DailyMail reports:
Walking along a tightrope would be terrifying enough for most people.
Add two speeding trucks at either end of the cable and the feat suddenly seems more like an impossible scene from a Hollywood blockbuster.
But for one young woman it provided the perfect adrenaline-inducing stunt to show off her impressive highlining skills.
American slackliner Faith Dickey, 23[as at 2012], became the first person to perform such a death-defying exploit on an unopened stretch of a new motorway in Croatia, with no oncoming traffic.
She officially holds the record for the first person to cross a high wire between two moving trucks driving at high speed (2012). Having survived the dramatic stunt, Miss Dickey said that this particular one was the most terrifying that she had even done
She holds the female world record for Highlining length at 345ft (105m) in Moab, Utah
She holds the women’s world record for the longest distance walked on a wire without a safety leash (28 meters)
Because highlining in between two moving trucks wasn’t death-defying enough, Dickey decided to do a high wire walk in high heels at the Women’s Highline Meeting in Czech Republic. It was called “Walk of Faith… in high heels”
She has a couple of world records for distances walked on different types of wires, including the women’s world record for the longest distance walked on a wire without a safety leash (28 meters) and
She holds a couple of records including:
- The female world record for waterlining in 2013 by walking ‘The Queen Line,” a beastly 460ft waterline (140m) in France.
- The first female to walk a wire higher than 100 meters. (Her highest was a wire in the Swiss Alps at 4,000 feet (1200 meters)
Other than performing stunts that will make her adrenaline skyrocket, she gives workshops on fear, based on her experience. She once gave a TED talks on fear and intuition experienced through highlining.
